Fashion Photographer in Dubai
A lookbook doesn’t sell clothes. It sells who someone becomes wearing them. Editorial, lookbooks, campaigns and model portfolios — shot like a film, not a catalogue. I'm Yedukrishna Suresh, founder of YKS Productions, shooting cinematic fashion across Dubai, building images that move the way light does on a set.
Most fashion photography in Dubai is lit to be flat and clean — safe for a catalogue, forgettable on a feed. I come at it from the other direction. My background is in cinematography and on-set stills for film, so I light a fashion shoot the way a cinematographer lights a scene: with intention, shadow and mood. The clothes still read perfectly. They just feel like they belong to a story.
That approach suits the brands and talent who want to stand out in a crowded market — designers launching a collection, models building a portfolio that gets callbacks, and founders who want their brand to look like it costs more than it does. If you've scrolled past a hundred identical Dubai fashion feeds and want frames that stop the thumb, that's the work I do.
01
Recent fashion frames
A slice of editorial, campaign and portfolio work — the full set lives in the portfolio.
02
What I shoot
Fashion is its own column at YKS — every brief is treated like a campaign, whatever the budget.
Editorials & Lookbooks
Story-led fashion sets for magazines, designers and seasonal collections — concept, location and light built around the garments.
Designer Campaigns
Launch and collection campaigns for fashion labels, with a cohesive look across stills and reels for the full rollout.
Model Portfolios
Portfolio and comp-card shoots that give agencies range — clean beauty, editorial, and full-length in one session.
E-commerce & Brand
Product-accurate but elevated catalogue and PDP imagery for fashion e-commerce that needs to convert, not just exist.
Personal Branding
For founders, creators and public figures in Dubai who need a signature visual identity, not a stiff headshot.
Fashion Films & Reels
Motion to match the stills — short cinematic fashion films and social reels shot on the same set, same day.
03
Which shoot do you actually need
Brands often ask for one and describe another. The three are not interchangeable, and the difference shows up on the day.
| Kind | What it is for | How the day runs | What you end up with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Editorial | Telling a story — a magazine feature, a season’s mood, a collaboration you want written about | Fewer setups, more time in each. Location and light matter more than shot count | A sequence that reads in order, with a strong opener and a closer |
| Lookbook | Showing the garments clearly so a buyer or a customer can judge cut, drape and colour | Fast and repetitive by design. Consistent light, consistent framing, straight through the rail | Every piece shot cleanly, front and back, all matching each other |
| Campaign | One or two hero images that will carry a season across every channel you own | Slowest of the three. Most of the day goes into a handful of frames | A small number of images, retouched hard, cropped for many placements |
| E-commerce | Product pages, where the job is accuracy rather than atmosphere | Locked-off setup, high volume, colour handled carefully so returns don’t rise | A consistent set on clean background, sized for your storefront |
Most briefs are really two of these at once — a lookbook that also has to yield a campaign image, say. That is entirely doable, but it has to be planned as two things sharing a day rather than discovered at four in the afternoon. Saying which one matters most is the single most useful sentence you can put in your first message.
04
Who else is on set
A fashion shoot is rarely one person with a camera. Assembling the rest is part of the job.
Finding the face
Casting can be handled as part of the shoot rather than a hunt you run yourself. Already have someone, or a model booked through an agency? I work with them instead.
HMUA
A tested network in Dubai rather than whoever is free. Hair and makeup is what decides how many looks a day can actually hold.
Stylist & steamer
The unglamorous truth of fashion photography is that creases show. A stylist on set is usually the difference between usable and re-shoot.
Quoted together
The team, the talent and the day come back as one all-in figure covering the shoot and the edit — not a list of line items to chase separately.
05
Shooting across Dubai
The city is one of the best fashion backdrops in the world — I use all of it.
From clean-lined studio setups for campaign work, to the glass geometry of DIFC and Downtown, the raw industrial walls of Alserkal Avenue, the yachts and promenade of Dubai Marina, and the gold light of the desert at dawn — Dubai gives a fashion shoot more range than almost any city on earth. I scout the right backdrop for your brief, handle the permits where they're needed, and arrive knowing exactly how each location will read on camera at each hour of the day.
06
What moves the number
So you can shape the brief before you ask, rather than after.
How many looks
The biggest single lever. Six looks and sixteen looks are different days, mostly because of the changes between them, not the shooting.
How many locations
Moving costs more time than anything else on a shoot day. One strong location usually beats three rushed ones.
Who you need on set
Casting, hair and makeup, styling — each is optional, and each is quoted inside the one number if you want it.
Where the images go
Your own channels is the standard. Out-of-home, or a market outside the UAE, changes what the talent is booked for — so flag it at the brief.
Send the brief with those four answered and you will get one all-in figure back covering the shoot and the edit, with nothing added afterwards.
07
How a shoot works
Enquiry
You send the brief — collection, mood, deliverables, deadline. I reply with an all-in quote and availability.
Concept
We lock a moodboard, locations, looks and the creative team — hair, makeup, styling — so the shoot day runs to plan.
Shoot day
I direct light, pose and pace on set, shooting stills and motion together so nothing is missed in the moment.
Delivery
First selects in 3–5 days, fully graded finals in 10–14. Print-ready files, plus crops sized for every platform.

Fashion shoot questions
What is the difference between an editorial, a lookbook and a campaign?
An editorial tells a story and is made to be published; a lookbook shows the garments clearly so a buyer can see cut, drape and colour; a campaign is built around one or two hero images that will carry a season across every channel. They need different shot counts, different pacing on the day and different edits, so the first thing worth settling is which of the three you actually need.
How much does a fashion shoot in Dubai cost?
Fashion shoots in Dubai are quoted per project, with half-day and full-day options depending on the number of looks, locations and deliverables. Tell me the brief and I will send an all-in rate with no hidden extras.
Do you arrange hair, makeup and styling?
Yes. I work with a trusted network of hair and makeup artists and stylists in Dubai, and can build the full creative team into your shoot package, or work alongside a team you already have.
Can you cast models for the shoot?
Yes. Casting can be handled as part of the job rather than as a separate hunt you run yourself, and the cost of the talent is folded into the one quoted number for the shoot. If you already have a face in mind or a model booked through an agency, I will work with them instead.
Do you shoot in studio or on location in Dubai?
Both. I shoot in Dubai studios for controlled lighting and clean campaign frames, and on location across the Marina, DIFC, Alserkal Avenue, Downtown and the desert when the brief calls for atmosphere.
How many looks can we shoot in a day?
A full day comfortably covers six to ten looks with one model, depending on how much the hair and makeup has to change between them. Changing the location as well as the look is what eats the day, so if the shot count matters more than variety, it is usually better to hold one location and move through the rail.
How soon do I receive the final images?
A first edit of selects is usually ready within 3 to 5 days, with fully retouched final images delivered within 10 to 14 days. Rush turnaround is available for campaigns on a deadline.
Who owns the images, and where can I use them?
You get the usage agreed in the quote, written down before the shoot rather than left vague. For most brands that means full use across your own channels, your website and paid social. If the images are going on out-of-home or into a market outside the UAE, say so at the brief stage, because it changes what the models are booked for.
Do you travel outside Dubai for fashion shoots?
Yes — across the UAE and to India regularly, since I work between Dubai and Bangalore. Travel is quoted inside the same all-in number rather than added afterwards.
