LinkedIn Headshots in Dubai
Your profile photo is shown as a circle the size of a fingernail, to someone deciding in about a second whether to open your profile. Almost every photo fails for the same reason — it was framed for a rectangle and looked at on a big screen. I’m Yedukrishna Suresh, founder of YKS Productions, and I shoot profile photos in Dubai composed for the crop they will actually live in.
01
One session, one photo that works
Framed for the circle, checked at the size people actually see it.
A LinkedIn headshot is a different job from a portrait, and the difference is the frame. A portrait is made to be looked at. A profile photo is made to be recognised — small, circular, next to your name, usually while someone is scrolling past. Those are not the same picture, and shooting one when you needed the other is why so many people quietly dislike their own profile.
The practical consequences are specific. A wide, elegant crop makes your face tiny once it is reduced to a circle. A busy background turns to noise. A dramatic shadow down one side reads as a smudge rather than as mood. A tilted head that looks relaxed at full size looks off-balance beside a column of centred faces. None of this is about the camera — it is about knowing where the picture is going before you take it.
So that is how I shoot it. Tighter framing than a standard portrait. A background quiet enough to survive being shrunk. Even light on both sides of the face. And before you leave, we look at the frames at the size they will really appear, not blown up on a laptop — because that is the only honest test.
02
Where your photo actually appears
The same image has to hold up in five very different places. Most only work in the first.
| Where it shows | How it appears | What breaks there |
|---|---|---|
| Your profile page | The largest it ever gets, still a circle | Soft focus and low resolution show up here first |
| Search results | A small circle in a list of other faces | A wide crop leaves your face too small to read |
| The feed | Very small, beside every post and comment | Too little contrast between you and the background |
| Messages and invitations | Small, tight against text | Heavy shadow on one side turns into a dark blur |
| Recruiter and sales tools | Small, in a row of many others | An off-centre or tilted face looks careless by comparison |
This is the whole argument for treating it as its own shoot. A photo that only works in the first row is a photo that works almost nowhere, because the first row is the one place people arrive after they have already decided to click.
03
What you get
A small set of images you will actually use, not a gallery to wade through.
The Profile Photo
One frame chosen and cropped specifically for the circle, checked at small size before you leave the session.
A Rectangular Crop
The same look framed wider for a website bio, an about page, a speaker listing or a press mention.
A Second Look
A change of outfit or background so you have a warmer and a more formal version, and can switch as your role does.
Honest Retouching
Skin and stray hair cleaned up, nothing reshaped. It should look like you on a good day, not like someone else.
Being Directed
The part most people need most. Posture, chin, shoulders and where to look, so you stop performing and start looking like yourself.
Matched Across People
Doing several colleagues? Same light and crop across everyone, so a leadership page reads as one company.
04
Why the directing matters more than the camera
Nearly everyone tightens up in the first two minutes in front of a lens, and a tightened face is exactly what reads as untrustworthy at thumbnail size. The eyes go flat, the smile arrives half a second late, the shoulders climb. No lens fixes that.
What fixes it is being directed by someone who does this on film sets, where the job is getting a real expression out of a person on a schedule. I talk you through posture and angle, give you something to react to rather than telling you to smile, and shoot through the moment rather than at it. That is why people who say they hate photographs tend to leave with one they will actually use.
The film background shows in the light as well. Even, soft light on both sides of the face is unglamorous and deeply practical: it survives being shrunk to a circle, and it will still look right in two years when the fashionable lighting of this year looks dated.

What decides the price
Quoted as one all-in number covering the shoot and the retouching — nothing added afterwards.
One person, or several
A single profile photo is priced as a session. Several colleagues in one visit costs less per person and is quoted as one job.
Studio, your office, or outdoors
Coming to your office means bringing a portable studio; a studio booking is its own cost. Outdoors is the simplest.
How many looks you want
One clean frame is quick. Two or three genuinely different looks means more time, and more time is most of what you are paying for.
How fast you need it
Two to three days is standard and included. A same-day or next-day turnaround is possible and is quoted for the rush.
Tell me your role, where in Dubai you are, and whether it is just you — and you will get one figure back, not a rate card to decode.
06
How it runs
A short message
Your role, your part of Dubai, and what the photo is for — a new job, a founder profile, a rebrand. You get a time and one all-in figure.
Two outfits
Bring a couple of options in solid mid-tones. We pick on the day, on screen, rather than guessing in advance.
The session
Thirty to forty-five minutes. Mostly directing, some shooting, and a look at the frames small before we finish.
Delivery
Retouched images in two to three days — a circular crop for the profile and a wider one for everything else.

Common questions
How is a LinkedIn headshot different from a corporate headshot?
A LinkedIn headshot is built for one small circular frame, seen at thumbnail size, by someone deciding in about a second whether to open your profile. A corporate headshot is built for consistency across a team page. The lighting and direction overlap; the framing does not. For a LinkedIn photo I shoot tighter, keep the background quiet, and compose for a circle rather than a rectangle, so nothing important sits where the crop will cut it.
What should I wear for a LinkedIn photo in Dubai?
Wear what your clients would expect to see you in, one notch sharper. Solid mid-tones photograph best; tight patterns and thin stripes can shimmer at small sizes, and pure white or pure black can flatten. Bring two options and we will shoot both, which costs nothing extra and gives you a choice once you see them on screen.
Where do we shoot — studio, office or outdoors?
All three work and each gives a different read. A clean studio backdrop is the safest and most versatile. Your own office puts you in your world and suits founders and client-facing roles. Outdoors in soft light reads warmer and less corporate. If you are unsure, we shoot a plain background first so you always have the safe frame, then try a second look.
How long does a LinkedIn headshot session take?
For one person, 30 to 45 minutes is enough for several usable looks. Most of that is spent getting you comfortable rather than shooting. If you only need one strong frame, it can be done faster, but the extra fifteen minutes is usually what separates a photo you tolerate from one you actually like.
How many photos do I get, and can I use them anywhere?
You get a small set of fully retouched images rather than a large gallery, cropped for a profile photo and for wider use such as a website bio, a speaker page or a press mention. They are yours to use across your own professional profiles without any extra licence.
How fast is delivery?
Retouched images are typically delivered within 2 to 3 days. Rush delivery is available when you need the photo for a launch, a new role or a conference listing.
How much does a LinkedIn headshot cost in Dubai?
It depends on whether it is one person or several, studio or your office, and how many looks you want. I quote one all-in number covering the shoot and the retouching, so there is nothing added afterwards. Send your role and which part of Dubai you are in and you will get a straight figure back.
Do you photograph groups, or only individuals?
Both. A single profile photo is its own job and this page is about that. If you need the whole team done in one visit and matched to each other, that is the corporate headshots service instead, and it is priced per session rather than per person.
