How to Plan a Content Shoot Day for a Month of Posts
Shooting one post at a time is slow and inconsistent.
01
Why batch your content
Shooting one post at a time is slow and inconsistent. A planned shoot day captures a month’s worth of reels, UGC and photos in one look, with one setup. It’s how I run content for brands.
02
1. Start with the calendar, not the camera
List the posts you need for the month: how many reels, carousels, stories and ad variations. Group them by pillar such as product, people, behind-the-scenes and education.
03
2. Write hooks before shot lists
For each reel, write the first line or first visual. The hook decides whether anyone watches. Then list the shots needed to pay it off.
04
3. Group shots by location and light
Move through the day by location, and shoot exteriors when the light is soft. In Dubai that means early morning or golden hour; in Bangalore overcast days are a gift.
05
4. Plan UGC separately
UGC-style clips need a different setup: phone-style framing, natural light, a person talking to camera. Schedule them as a block, with a wireless mic for clean audio.
06
5. Capture stills alongside video
Photos for the feed, website and ads can come from the same scenes. With a camera like the Sony A7 IV switching between stills and video is quick.
07
6. Shoot vertical and horizontal deliberately
Decide per shot. Vertical for reels and stories, horizontal for YouTube and web. Cropping later loses quality and framing.
08
7. Deliver organised files
Name and sort files by post, so publishing is easy. See content creation for how I run this for brands.

Quick answers
How much content comes from one day?
It depends on locations, number of setups and formats. A clear shot list maximises it.
Do I need professional talent?
Not always. Your team and real customers often work better for UGC.
Can the same shoot feed ads?
Yes. Plan ad variations into the shot list.
